Michael K. Adjemian was a Senior Research Economist in the Crops Branch of the Market and Trade Economics Division. He was also on detail as a Senior Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers. Mike’s research is focused on developments in commodity derivatives markets. He has worked on estimating the effect of local supply shocks on commodity prices, enhancing the methodology behind USDA price and supply forecasts, exploring the operation of thin markets, improving the estimation of commodity demand parameters, identifying the reasons for nonconvergence between spot and futures prices, quantifying the value of USDA situation and outlook programs, and determining whether the announcement effects they generate have changed over time.
