Percent of calories consumed at food-away-from-home establishments rose almost 74 percent from 1977–1978 to 2017–2018

Survey data indicate U.S. consumers’ dietary quality differs from Federal recommendations for most nutrients and food groups examined, coinciding with an increase in percent of calories consumed at food-away-from-home establishments. However, whole-grain density in school foods has soared.
