USDA food and nutrition assistance spending by program, fiscal year 2025

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) accounted for about 69 percent of total USDA food and nutrition assistance spending in fiscal year 2025. Child nutrition programs (including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Summer Food Service Program, Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer for Children Program, related State administrative expenses, and other related costs) made up the next largest share, at about 22 percent. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) made up about 5 percent of spending.
