Sara Scott is the Assistant Director for Outreach in the Market and Trade Economics Division of USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS). Sara manages her division’s production for ERS’s monthly online magazine, Amber Waves, which showcases ERS research and analysis on economic and policy issues related to agriculture, food, the environment, and rural America. She also oversees publication of the division’s Charts of Note, daily graphs that provide visual snapshots of ongoing ERS products.
Sara joined ERS as Agricultural Economist in February 2020, returning to USDA after a long tenure in private industry providing economic analysis, financial forecasting, and strategic planning for Kansas City Southern Railway and Farmland Industries. Previously, Sara was an agricultural economist at USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service focusing on market access and policy issues for U.S. grains and feed.
Sara earned an M.S. in Agricultural Economics and a B.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Missouri.
