Briefly
Patrick is an agricultural economist in the Conservation and Environment Branch of the Resource and Rural Economics Division of USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS). He is currently working as a climate fellow to improve the temporal and spatial coverage of national conservation activity data.
Background
Before joining ERS in February 2024, Patrick spent his career conducting economic research for various outdoor recreation industries. Most recently, Patrick served as the deputy director of research for PeopleForBikes (the U.S. bicycle industry trade association)—where he studied trends in bicycling participation, market activity, and public opinion. Prior to his work in the bicycle industry, he served as an economic research analyst for Southwick Associates—where his work focused on participation and sales within the hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing industries.
