David Hopkins

Statistical Support

Briefly

David Hopkins provides statistical and data processing support for the Economic Research Service. He has worked on many projects in ERS, across all the economic divisions. Most notably he has worked on the State Fact Sheets, the American Community Survey, and the American Time Use Survey. He has also worked on ERS's website through several iterations.

Background

David retired from ERS in 2011 but returned to the Research Support branch at the request of his previous boss in 2020. Before retirement, David worked with ERS for 31 years as a computer programmer and systems analyst.


Before ERS, David worked for the National Marine Fisheries Service as a marine biologist in Miami, Galveston, Beaufort, NC, and Virginia.

Education

David received his BS in biology from the College of William and Mary and studied marine science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.
