Haiti's U.S. Rice Imports

Haiti is among the largest markets for U.S. Southern long-grain rice. Imports now make up 80 percent of Haiti's rice consumption. Efforts are underway in Haiti to improve agricultural performance and reduce dependence on imports. But even with productivity gains, Haiti is likely to continue to rely on imports of U.S. rice for a major part of its food supply.
