The ERS 50th Anniversary Committee planned several events to take place throughout the year with the major event—a two-day celebration—taking place on May 4-5, 2011.
In the afternoon on May 4, 2011 there were events 
for ERS alumni and
current employees at ERS headquarters. An all-day symposium took place May 5, 2011 in the
Jefferson Auditorium, USDA South Building, that focused on ERS' past and ongoing contributions to public policy and the

An ERS anniversary event took place at the 2011 Agricultural Outlook Forum in February, and another is planned for the 2011 Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) annual meeting in Pittsburgh (July 24-26, 2011).
